We hope you can join us this Friday, September 19, all day as we transform our street corner into a multi-use urban mini-park for the day!
Those of you who joined us for this event last fall will remember how fun and successful the experiment was (view photos on our Flickr page), and how we all drew inspiration from this community-activated space. This year, we have aligned our effort with National Park[ing] Day — “an open-source experiment in reprogramming the urban surface.” (Original concept by REBAR. www.rebargroup.org. For more info, go to www.parkingday.org)
There will be grass to lay on, hay to sit on, bike parking, face painting, great music, a kid zone, and much more! If you can’t join us during the daylight hours on Friday, stop by on Saturday or Sunday — we are extending the motif and the celebration throughout the weekend to maximize the community benefit.
We are using this opportunity to present our collective vision for what we hope can become a public works project that will bring a permanent transformation to our street corner. We hope you’ll come with your vision and ideas, and help enhance ours!
